When in the Stockton and nearby areas I normally monitor the W6SF (Stockton-Delta Amateur Radio Club) repeater which is 147.165 + with no pl. I also monitor the repeater from home (I take the mobile radio inside when I am at home). I am a member of this club, and if you live in the Stockton/Delta area I encourage you to check them out!
W6SF Field Day Photos! (Note: These are during the setup phase and roughly the first hour-I departed after this and when I returned later didn't take any pictures): Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 Page 4 Page 5
I work in Tracy and when I am at work I usually carry the HT with me. I usually "scan" repeaters with it, but usually monitor 146.655 - 100.0 pl or 441.65 + 156.7 pl. I talk on the radio when I get a chance, but sometimes get pretty busy at my job. I am at work from around 6am-2pm M-F usually, though this can vary. I also monitor this repeater at home. Also, every morning on the 146.655 - 100.0 repeater we have an informal "net" as people go to work, anyone is welcome to join the net! Click here for more net info. The Tracy repeater at 146.655 has very good coverage to the valley also and is a pretty popular repeater.
Update: Sept 29, 2005: Thanks to my boss at work, I'm now allowed to run a small larsen magmount antenna on top of my guard shack. This allows me to hook the HT up and get really good signal to the Tracy and other repeaters. I can even get into the W6SF repeater now, which was impossible before with the window mount. (I only get it at S-5, but thats because the warehouse is between me and the repeater, the warehouse tends to be a nice big signal obstacle!) But with this setup, when work isn't busy, I'm able to talk on the radio easily.
Update: Nov 16, 2005. I have also been on a few 440 repeaters lately, as well as another 2m Modesto repeater that has been put up recently. However, I still do monitor the Tracy repeater primarily, as well as the W6SF when out mobile. The W5SF repeater tower was recently raised, dramatically increasing its range, it also had a bit of service preformed on it to make sure everything was in good working order. The club now also has a 440 repeater with EXCELLENT coverage, check out http://www.w6sf.org for details. I have also been elected club Secretary for 2006 for the club, so I will be editing the newsletter for the club as well as participating in other club activities.
Update: March 26, 2006. With the acquistion of the FT857D, I am now on 6m and 2m sideband at various times. I'm normally monitoring 144.237.50 on 2m sideband if I'm not listening to HF, or I'm not on 6m.
